Making vaccination and quarantine work
Challenge
In 2021, the Netherlands faced ongoing COVID-19 outbreaks. Parliament required quarantine for travelers from high-risk areas. The Ministry of Health needed a process for declaration, control, and enforcement in a politically complex environment. Simultaneously, the vaccination campaign required a clear follow-up strategy to reach all citizens effectively.
Idea
TD led coordination across VWS, RIVM, GGDs, municipalities, and carriers. Using research-driven design, both digital and printed quarantine declarations were developed within a five-week timeframe. The narrative “Elke prik telt / Every Shot Counts” and the platform prikkenzonderafspraak.nl simplified vaccination access, integrating regional sites and reaching underrepresented groups.
Result
Within four months, quarantine processes were implemented, vaccination services optimized, and communication made accessible. The approach became a blueprint for integrated COVID-19 services, culminating in MijnVraagOverCorona.nl, which provides clarity, reach, and trust to millions of citizens.
