TD at HackaLOD 2025: Fixing the Internet in 24 Hours
The internet is broken. Passwords everywhere, data slipping through our fingers, manipulative interfaces, endless cookie pop-ups, and trackers watching everything we do. Add AI noise and algorithmic overload, and no one knows what’s real—or where to start.
Our challenge at HackaLOD 2025: build a solution in 24 hours that tackles all these problems and leverages the rich heritage of the Netherlands, so users regain control of their own data.
Using SOLID, we built a service that lets people manage their own data and access rights. Any website can use it to offer full personalisation—without needing to know anything about the user. We call it the Heritage Passport.
It runs on the complete Dutch heritage data: a user’s profile is translated into the national term network, enriched with behaviour and new selections, linked to the right data sources, and then mapped onto all relevant heritage items.
In a single sprint, we connected the core infrastructure for a private, personalised, user-first web—powered entirely by your own profile and by the heritage of the Netherlands.
