Limburgs Museum

Van ós. For everybody.

Challenge

The Limburgs Museum in Venlo aims to be a museum for everyone, both inside and outside Limburg. Yet it was still often perceived as a regional museum with limited reach. The goal was clear: transform into a contemporary museum with social relevance, audience-focused programming, and a strong digital presence.

TD was asked to create a bold positioning, brand identity, and communication strategy that bridges local heritage and universal stories. A brand that reflects the movement and development of Limburg and invites visitors to see the world with new eyes.

Idea

The inspiration came from the heart of Limburg: the Meuse. This river, shaping the landscape as it flows, became a symbol of change, connection, and growth. TD translated this metaphor into a dynamic brand identity, a visual language full of energy and movement: the Museum with Schwung.

The new branding embodies openness and inclusivity. Van ós. For everybody expresses Limburg pride while inviting the wider world in. Clear typography, flowing shapes, and a vibrant color palette bring Limburg’s stories to life in the museum, online, and on location. In addition, TD developed a consistent brand ecosystem with guidelines, digital tools, and campaign formats, making the museum more flexible and visible than ever before.

Result

The transformation of the Limburgs Museum is tangible and measurable. Visitor numbers have doubled in the museum and online. The new identity has led to new partnerships, extensive media coverage, and national visibility, including serving as a backdrop for Tussen Kunst en Kitsch.

The successful campaign The Forgotten Princesses of Thorn marked the start of a new era: a museum that brings movement to people, stories, and society. The Limburgs Museum is now exactly what it promises to be ‘van ós. For everybody’.
